The Stonic is Kia's smallest and most affordable SUV, a light, city friendly five seater that's easy to park and cheap to run. For 2026 it pairs a frugal turbo three cylinder petrol with a mild hybrid system that adds a little power while trimming fuel use. Even the base car gets a touchscreen, wireless phone mirroring and auto braking, and the range runs from the value S through the well rounded Sport to the sporty GT-Line, all covered by Kia's seven year warranty. Note that wireless phone mirroring with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is only available on the base S grade, so don't be surprised if you have to plug your phone in for the higher grades.

The AutoFocus Verdict
The S is the honest entry, genuinely affordable without feeling stripped out, and it keeps the core safety kit. What you give up over the Sport is adaptive cruise and fuller auto braking, plus cabin polish like the cloth seats and manual air con. For city driving the S can be an easy trade; step up to the Sport if you want that safety kit or the nicer interior.

The sporty flagship, with a body kit and twin screens.

48V Mild Hybrid
This engine is paired with a 48-volt starter-generator and a small battery. It recovers energy as you slow down, then feeds it back to restart the engine and to assist it when pulling away, which trims fuel use a little and makes the stop-start system smoother in traffic. It's a mild hybrid: it cannot drive on electric power alone.
