The EV9 is Kia's flagship electric SUV, a big, boldly styled seven seater built on an 800 volt platform for very fast charging. The cabin is limousine like, with three rows of space, twin curved screens and available reclining, massaging second row captain's chairs. The range opens with the rear drive Air, steps up to the dual motor Earth and luxury GT-Line, and tops out with the performance GT, the quickest Kia of its kind. The dual motor grades add all wheel drive and can tow up to 2,500kg, while the rear drive Air is limited to 900kg, and every grade can run appliances and camping gear through vehicle to load.

The AutoFocus Verdict
The Air is the value way into a big electric seven seater. It uses the smaller 76.1kWh battery and a single rear motor, so at 443km its range and its 8.2 second pace trail the dual motor grades, and towing is limited to 900kg. For a large family SUV that mostly does school runs and city miles that is still plenty, and the 800 volt system means it charges very quickly on the rare long trip. Step up to the Earth if you want the longer range, AWD grip or much stronger towing.
