The Outback has been fully redesigned, trading the old wagon's rounded look for a boxier, more upright SUV shape. Inside, it gets a completely new cabin built around a large portrait touchscreen, a clear step up in design and technology over the previous generation. It keeps what made the Outback an Australian favourite though: standard all wheel drive, generous ground clearance and a huge boot. It drives like a comfortable car but can head well offroad, and every grade has Subaru's EyeSight safety as standard. A smooth 2.5-litre petrol engine covers most buyers, while the rugged Wilderness adds real off-road hardware and a turbo engine.
