The CX-5 is a medium SUV, redesigned for its third generation. It is bigger and more comfortable than before, with a roomier cabin, a larger boot and more rear space for a growing family. Every grade drives all four wheels on the same petrol engine, can tow a decent trailer, and comes with the full safety package as standard. It suits families who want a comfortable, dependable SUV, with grades from a well equipped entry to a premium flagship. The new CX-5 arrives in Australia from mid 2026.

The AutoFocus Verdict
The Pure is the value way into the new CX-5, with AWD standard even at this end of the range. It already has the big screens, radar cruise and the key safety gear, so for many families it's all the CX-5 they need. The main things you give up are wireless phone mirroring, heated seats and keyless entry, which the Evolve restores. Nothing important is missing here.
The mid grade, adding the wireless conveniences and heated seats.
The comfort grade, adding power seats and a head-up display.
The sporty grade, with a blacked out look and premium features.
The flagship, with the biggest screen and the most comfort.
