The Ranger is Australia's best selling vehicle, a dual cab ute that works as hard on a job site as it does hauling the family on weekends. Every grade tows well, seats five and runs Ford's big portrait touchscreen with a full safety suite. For 2026 the old bi turbo is gone, and the range now pairs an updated single turbo diesel with the strong V6 turbo diesel, available further down the line up than ever. It climbs from the no frills XL work ute through the popular XLT and Wildtrak to the luxurious Platinum, with the high performance petrol V6 Raptor at the top.

The AutoFocus Verdict

The XL is the value entry, and the 2026 update finally lets you option the V6 in base trim, bringing the cost of the bigger engine down a lot. For tradies who just need a dependable, tow rated workhorse, the cheaper diesel is all the Ranger many need; step up to the V6 4x4 if you tow heavy or head offroad.
